...shining light on the media, one review at a time
Most Americans would probably say they’re familiar with both sides of the abortion issue. Pro-lifers argue for the unborn child’s right to live, while the mother’s right to choose what happens to her body is the cry of those who are pro-choice. Yet both of these perspectives are often championed by those who are not directly affected by abortion.
The unborn cannot speak, but women can. If the women who have made that “choice” to eliminate an unwanted pregnancy were to have the opportunity and courage to speak out, what would they say? The answer is surprising and unforgettably powerful in the documentary, Life after Abortion.
In this well-produced film, women who have had abortions come forward to tell their stories. If you think you know everything there is to know about the abortion issue, think again. These women have been there, done that, and will bear the scars of their “choice” forever.
Through the stories the women relate, many dark secrets of abortionists are revealed—the all-too-common health dangers, which include possible death, to women and girls who have abortions; the abortionists’ campaign to increase teenage clientele; the deception used to ensure that the right “choice” is made.
The women in this video who chose abortion are not political activists or trying to argue viewers into agreement with a pro-life position. Rather, these women simply share the undeniable truth of their personal experiences and the irreversible consequences that followed the decisions to terminate their pregnancies. Through the telling of these painful and even horrifying experiences, viewers come to realize that the decision to have an abortion is only the beginning of lifelong regret. The unborn are not, this film shows, the only victims of abortion.
But just when it seems as if there is no happy ending to be had in this film, these women share how they found healing and freedom from their guilt, shame, and devastation. In Christ, they found forgiveness, hope, and the courage to speak about their abortions. Their goal in doing this? To help prevent others from making the same mistake that they did and to point those who have already aborted their babies to God’s healing forgiveness.
The two-disc DVD edition of this film also includes special features that cover the history and current activities of Planned Parenthood, inspiring stories of adoption, and the men’s side of the abortion experience.
If you are unsure, pro-choice, or considering abortion, watch this film. Without knowing the reality of abortion as revealed in these women’s true stories, one cannot make an informed decision—a real choice—to support or commit an abortion. If you’re pro-life, watch this film and you’ll be more armed to defend your position, as well as better able to understand and reach out to women who have already made the wrong choice.
Whatever your position, watching this film may change your life, and it also just might save some.
